Patriotism!

A ‘lofty word’!

For many inhabitants of a country under a red, white, and blue flag of ‘Democracy’, Patriotism lives within them like the air they breathe, in their prayers at the end of a long day of commerce and labor… They still carry the cherished memory of a dad, son, daughter, uncle, cousin, friend who died in a war to preserve a remarkable system of government by and for the free and liberated people of a nation born of immigrants, spilled blood, and honorable ideals.

It is difficult to find consensus of ideas among people of different origins, and, at times, we hold elections to choose people to run departments of our national, state, and local government.

On November 3, 2020, there will be national voting for President of the United States. This election has been tabbed as one of the most significant elections in our US history… I believe this is true!

The Conservative Right offers us four more years of our current President, Donald J. Trump. Professing not to be part of the Washington DC establishment, not the eloquent and polished orator, not a Politician, but a man of the people who can – and, does – get things done.

The Truth is there in his record…

The country can boast that its economy numbers and accomplishments are the best in our nation’s history.

Employment and Job numbers are at their highest in history.

New ‘Trade Deals’ with Canada, Mexico…

Wall nearing completion on our Southern borders with Mexico – protecting against ‘illegal aliens’ crossing into our country.

Minorities are doing better than at any time in our history.

Military Readiness and Equipment under President Trump are ‘State of the Art’.

Foreign Policy achievements include new treaties in the Middle East… ISIS defeated… The US Embassy now has its home in Jerusalem… The Military is now bringing soldiers home from the foreign ‘local war’ outposts… Pull-Out from ‘The Paris Accord’, ‘The Iran Deal’, ‘The World Health Organization’ because of China’s favorable domination of that group.

Covid-19 (China’s Gift to the World!) was not the fault of our good president, and, despite all the ‘Left’s’ positioning on the issue, Donald J. Trump, has done a super job in all areas trying to control this pandemic. Quickly after the virus reached the US, President Trump stopped all travel from china to our country.

Since then he has done anything and everything sensible in stopping this killer virus. The cure and the vaccine for this awful plague is just weeks away – maybe, days away. It is incredibly naïve and sophomoric by the Left to be blaming the president… In less than a year, likely, we will have defeated this Virus. President Trump has been indefatigable in all of his efforts on behalf of the citizens of our country.

The ‘Liberal Left’ offers us in this election an agenda with a strong ‘Socialistic Leaning’…

Open borders with all freebies, rights and privileges for those illegals coming into our country…

Free healthcare for all…

A ‘Green New Deal’ with candidate Biden estimating its cost at $100Trillion (Not so bad if you say it fast!) …

Taxes that even wipe out ‘Zebra Stripes’…

More Schumer and Pelosi ‘do-nothing’ hatred for President Trump and the ‘Right’…

More constant carping about a ‘Liberal Left’ that no longer exists and a strong input from Socialist-leaning members of their Party…and, did I mention more hatred of President Donald J. Trump? …

And, if elected, coming soon to your ‘suburban living’ a free mix of business and housing…

Those Romantic Moments

To be sure, there are rare, unique, and special romantic moments in our lives. Some, we will pledge to posterity with all the poetic and prose talent we have…sure, it might come out as gilded prose, but the words will still carry some heart messages that convey what the possessed lover intended.

Being a ‘charter member’ of The Romantic Anonymous Club of Misfits and Sly Scoundrels, I am drawn to the soft violin strings, the meticulous wafting notes of a harp – which, at times, has drawn me to the lovely Harpist – and the gentle soul-seeking keys of a piano. Ask any active member of the TRACMSS, and they will validate my words…if they do not, they will be heavily fined.

Some readers might question the value, the worth of such a blog post… C’mon, man, who wants to read about this kind of stuff? Man and woman, meet – BOOM – they get it on. End of story.

I will not pigeon-hole my readers. If they are truly too offended by my words here, it will actually please many of our TRACMSS club members…you know, without too many pickers, there are more luscious fruit on the trees.

At this point, allow me to explain the presumptive reason for this particular post…

On July 4, 2020 we celebrate our great country’s ‘Declaration of Independence’. This year, with all that has come upon us – the ‘Covid-19’ Pandemic’, the many deaths, the Isolation, the Masks, the trepidation of our people about future riots and the unrest of tens of millions of people – it somehow seemed appropriate to write about Love and Romance.

It will take a hellava lot from the bad folks who are creating all of this death and destruction to defeat the good people of our country. The good people of this country want freedom and liberty to stay its course, law and order to prevail, and government malfeasance to disappear – to STOP stealing our money.

So, on the fourth of July, My wife and I are going to put on some Mantovani, some harp music, some violin music, and some soft floating piano notes, and celebrate our Independence Day – and Evening – and, we won’t be forgetting candlelight and wine… By the by, that TRACMSS  CLUB is looking for members… We love belonging but it’s just the two of us.

That the new voting system,

From a well-known source,

Is Bogus and fraud,

Developed from bigotry,

Hatred and bedlam sought.

So, why is it you, Sam,

Delivering this sad news?

Will you not be vilified?

Mocked by the Press?

Why must it be you, Sam?

To convey this partisan-mess?

Why should it not be me?

A patriot, loyal and true,

I will strive forever to

Give what is mine to give

To this great Republic I

Love: the red, white, and blue.

Let it then be recorded here

Along Constitution Avenue

Where the record will be

‘Most  glorified by your haste,

 Sam, a  man motivated by love

Of country and his Faith’.

No glory need be given any man

Acting with the love and pride

of his Country, his deed only

To right the ‘Ship of State’

And its fundamental belief

That all people are created equal.

Seldom does a book come to me in such a way as this book. It was all there in my head. Perhaps that’s because I’m so close to where the elements of the story took place, thirty minutes at the most. Yes, the location in the book is Pennsylvania because these are on-going cases, and I believe it wise to put the action somewhere else.

The same narrative prevails regardless of the state represented, that is, Pennsylvania is also familiar to me because I lived, worked, and went to college in Williamsport, PA – the college: Lycoming College – received my Bachelor of Arts there, carrying away some fond memories as I jouneyed west to California, then, Arizona.

While in College, my ‘Criminology Class’ visited several penal institutions, one of those dark and gloomy places was USP Lewisburg, referenced in the book, a prison that holds the worst of the worst criminals. I mention my Pennsylvania personal period because of those family, work, and college memories were vibrant and alive while writing this book, and the creation of a small town was easy for me to transmit narratively.

“The Pickett Factor” is truly inspired by crimes in a small town that shocks its citizens and those that are nearby: in 2013, a police officer was ambushed and murdered on his way home from a work shift; in 2014, a mother and daughter were brutally murdered in their bedrooms, throats slashed and shot; in 2015, a mother of four children went missing and has not been found to this day; the daughter murdered in 2015 went to high school with the missing woman’s daughter; in 2016, the father of that missing mother was mysteriously killed in a hunting accident; Drug gangs sell their wares on the streets of this small town, attacking citizens on their own property…and, there’s more.

As the reader can discern there is plenty of elements for several books. I have written “The Pickett Factor” as news flashes come in about these open cases, my mind swirling with images and words. My work is of course fiction, piggy-backing off these obscene and true crimes. My book has a fictional ending. The true cases’ denouement is yet to be written.

Barefoot and Bewildered!

I’m an old man! Who cares what an old says or writes? My wife cares. My kids and grandkids care. My friends care. And, I care – about my family and my country.

Where is the comity?

Was there ever comity?

Have I gone mad?

Has the world gone mad?

What world am I living in?

A man lives a virtuous life devoted to Law and Order, has a spotless record in his advancement toward the Supreme Court, has a beautiful family, coaches little kids, giving them some semblance of something  called sportsmanship and values for living. He is nominated for the highest court in the land…

I just erased several lines, trying for erudition. To hell with erudition… I’m angry! The words from an old movie come to me: “I’m mad as hell! and I’m not going to take it anymore!” Good movie: Peter Finch and William Holden. But I already stray from my course…

A good man is being brutalized before our very eyes, and I’m sitting here ‘mad as hell’ at these left-wing power-hungry idiots who have no problem at all destroying a human being, his family, his hard work, his LIFE! And, I’m mad as hell at the right-wingers who try to pacify these idiots.

My good God! What the hell are we doing to this country, this paragon of freedom and liberty, this beacon of hope that stretches far and wide across the earth? No details are needed to describe the situation unfolding before  us – unless someone is having a ‘Rip Van Winkle’ moment.

A good and decent man who wishes to further his distinguished public and judiciary service to our country is being made to look like a ‘Jack the Ripper’ in drag’. This man sits through gruelling days of testimony, patiently presenting his answers to a committee made up of conservative and liberal interrogators. The key word in the last sentence is ‘patiently’ because this good man finds his response time interrupted time and time again by left-wing, PAID, protestors PLUS organized interruptions by Democratic committee members themselves who have their ‘talking points’ from their inglorious leaders (names not given because the writer might regurgitate!)

Having sat through all of that plus many days before the hearing his name dragged through the ‘swamp’ of Washington, DC, out comes a paper-thin obvious ‘stall tactic’ of a professor who says, 36 years ago, this good man who attended a Catholic Boys School and on into Yale Law School, held her down in a locked bedroom while a friend of his watched, but this woman cannot recall the place, the time, on and on. Now, this woman might very well have been subjected to such an awful time in her life, but the attorneys for this woman are using her for stall tactics time and again and will keep on with more women to come forward with more ‘creative attorney BS’, all to destroy this good man’s reputation and his family, all to incite the ‘crazies’ to send threats of ‘death’ to his family members. The women may very well have had some issues as described, but they are being used by the left liberals who will likely ultimately destroy them as well.

The good man answered by saying he ‘categorically’ and ‘unequivocally’  denied these charges. He appeared on a TV program denying vehemently these charges, his pain and anguish showing in his face. His wife sat also in anguish and pain beside him. He held back tears that could have easily come. The good man said he simply wanted a ‘process’, an honest forum to hear each side. He did not scream invective – I did that for him as I sat watching this good man endure his suffering.

My good God! ENOUGH! I may be a damned dinosaur, but this is pure unadulterated and horribly structured lies and innuendo to kill a man’s dreams, his good name, and his family. He was clear in his description of himself, speaking of private details of which a man should not have to speak.

I guess it’s true! We are in a ‘Cival War’!

Which side do we take? The side that hates the peoples’ choice for president, a man not eloquent as some we’ve seen, but a man who has this country thriving again, hates him enough to cause this good man and his family an emotional devastation, all for ‘POWER’, power to lead us down a road to destruction, to take us to their  power and dominance, telling people how to live and think, destroying people on their way toward some sort of Marxist Manifesto, ‘take from those who have more’ and ‘give to those who have less’, forgetting what this great land was built on. Apparently, history texts were not available to some of these apparent ‘socialists’! Their way has never worked in history and never shall it work. When a government deincentivises an individual by taking more of that for which he works, the road is downhill from that point on. That is my belief, and it’s my hope that the majority of the American people believe as I do.

I’ve had my say! AND, very likely, too much for some! For my friends of another persuasion, I mean no disrespect to you and your beliefs. For me, it was a need to fulfill.

Conservatives, do not let this happen to our country. CALL for a vote on this good man’s entry into the Supreme Court.
